Terms and conditions, DDI

1. Who these terms are between

These terms are between you and the Dementia Dialogue Initiative ("DDI", "we"), which operates dialoguefordementia.com and app.dialoguefordementia.com. By creating an account or using the platform you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

2. Who can use DDI

You must be at least 16 years old. You may join as a person living with dementia, a family member or carer, a healthcare or social care professional, or a community member. Professionals must describe their role honestly and must not present personal opinion as clinical advice.

3. DDI is free

Membership and every feature of the platform are free of charge. We may introduce optional paid features in future; if we do, we will say so clearly before you are asked to pay anything.

4. Your account

Keep your password private and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You may close it at any time from your settings or by contacting us.

5. Community rules

DDI is a place for honest conversation about hard things. To keep it that way, you agree not to:

harass, bully, threaten or discriminate against anyone;
share another person's private information, including details that could identify someone you care for, without their permission;
present yourself as a healthcare professional if you are not one, or give specific clinical instructions to individual members;
advertise products, services or fundraising without our written permission;
post content that is unlawful, misleading, or that promotes unproven treatments as cures;
attempt to access accounts or systems you are not authorised to use, or interfere with the platform.

We may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules. We will explain why where we reasonably can.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you post. You give DDI a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and share it within the platform so the service can work, and to quote short extracts anonymously to explain what DDI does. You can delete your content at any time and the licence ends, except for copies other members have already quoted or replied to.

7. Not medical advice

Content on DDI, including from members who are professionals, is shared experience and general information. It is not a substitute for advice from your own doctor, nurse or social worker, who know your situation. Never delay seeking professional help because of something you read on DDI. In an emergency call 999.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep DDI available at all times but cannot guarantee it. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and we will give reasonable notice of any change that significantly affects you.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Otherwise, because DDI is free, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the platform or reliance on content posted by members.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
